]]>As a luxury wedding stationery designer, I’m offering you a few hints on how to choose your wedding stationery colour scheme...
Be Inspired by the Seasons
Let the seasons inspire your stationery! Whether you’re tying the knot in spring or autumn, the season can offer a starting point for your colour scheme. For instance, spring lends itself to soft pastel hues, while you may want to incorporate a subtle hint of luxe gold during the winter months.
Consider your Venue
Your wedding venue may provide ideas for your wedding stationery design. For instance, if you’re opting for a marquee wedding with lots of leafy foliage, a stationery suite with minimalist botanical details will be the perfect choice. If a country house with glorious gardens is the setting for your special day, then an enchanting design with floral embellishments will provide your guests with a glimpse of your theme and colour palette.
Go Online
You’re guaranteed to find wedding stationery inspiration online! From Pinterest to Instagram, social media is a powerful tool that will provide you with oodles of colour palette ideas that you can save and show to your designer.
Channelling the Vibe
Think about the vibe you want for your wedding day! For couples who want an elegant and understated celebration, opt for a stationery design that reflects this. Crisp, thick luxurious card featuring embossed calligraphy and a gilded wax seal will set the scene for your special day.
Choose your Favourites
The easiest way to choose your wedding stationery colour palette, is to choose your favourite colours! If your wardrobe is kitted out with soft blush pinks, or your home interior is all about the ivory, why not use the same colour scheme for your stationery? Perhaps you adore gardening, and you’d love to include lots of floral detailing and illustrations throughout your Save the Dates and invitations. This is ultimately the most authentic way to decide.
Your wedding stationery will beautifully tie in your theme and colour scheme together throughout the rest of your day. If you’re looking for luxury wedding stationery, please do drop me a note or follow me on Instagram.
]]>Minimalist Designs
The minimalism trend first made an appearance a handful of years ago and it looks like it’s here to stay for even longer. There really is nothing more stylish than the simplicity of clean typography and contemporary colour palettes. Minimalism also works with an intimate gathering or an extravagant celebration!
Custom Maps
Add a truly personal touch to your wedding stationery with a customised map. Not only will it look beautiful designed on your invitations, but it will be incredibly helpful for your guests too. You could also include super sweet details about locations that mean a lot to you – particularly if you got engaged at your venue or had your first date there. I recommend highlighting important areas of the venue and its grounds, such as the ceremony and reception location, or landmarks your loved ones may want to scout out.
Vellum Wraps
Add an extra dash of luxury to your wedding stationery suite with a vellum wrap. One of the biggest trends of 2022, these semi-transparent covers elegantly enclose your invitations, RSVP cards and any other additional information. They gather everything together in one place while looking seriously gorgeous.
Vintage Influences
You’ll be surprised what a huge impact that culture movements have on stationery trends. For instance, Netflix shows such as Bridgerton have had a real influence on stationery styles across the country. Couples are now seeking high-end invitations, designed with thick luxurious paper and delicate illustrations of their wedding venue. I’m talking magnificent manor houses, grand country estates and even fairy-tale castles! Couples are also swaying more towards a vintage feel, channelling those Bridgerton vibes throughout their colour palette. Neutral colours, such as soft champagne, pale pinks and a subtle lashing of gold
will be making more of an appearance this year. The perfect nod to the Regency era!
Wax Seals
Here at Eliza May Prints, I love all the extra little details that really elevate your wedding stationery, including personalised wax seals. There’s something undeniably luxurious about the addition of a wax seal.
Handmade Paper
There really is nothing more enchanting than the handmade element of wedding stationery. You know that love, care, time and attention will have been poured into every individual save the date, invitation and more. Wedding stationery created using handmade paper also has a softer, more delicate texture, with deckled edging that almost has the appearance of being feathery. It’s the perfect choice if you want a romantic, ethereal vibe for your wedding.
Which is your favourite wedding stationery trend of 2022? Don’t forget to enquire if you are looking for handmade luxury stationery for your special day.
]]>Save the Dates
Your Save the Dates are a useful (and stylish) way of delivering the essential information to your guests, and quite simply, they will let them know they are invited. As soon as you have secured your date and wedding venue, it’s time to get those Save the Dates sent out. I recommend to my clients to send out their Save the Dates ideally 9-12 months before the wedding, so that your guests can make their travel and accommodation arrangements. This should be absolute priority if you are planning on tying the knot abroad, as friends and family will need to organise time off work etc. Your Save the Dates should include the following information:
Wedding Invitations
So, you’ve ticked off your Save the Dates, now you need to think about your invitations! For bespoke, luxury orders I recommend getting in touch 6 months prior to your special day, sending them out no less than 4 months before the wedding. This will give you enough time to put together the design, proof-read, make any amendments and have them printed. You need to give your guests enough time to RSVP too! Traditionally, couples include more details than you would have on your Save the Dates, such as:
On The Day Stationery
I’ll be working with you on all-things On-The-Day Stationery related from the word go, ready for when your special day arrives. From menu cards to place settings, wedding signage to seating plans. It is important that the styling and design of your wedding stationery is cohesive and ties in together to really add to your theme and colour scheme.
Thank You Cards
The Thank You Cards are sent 1 – 3 months after the wedding, just to say a quick thank you to your loved ones for their attendance and for any gifts you may have received. I recommend keeping it short, sweet and personal and include a few pics of you both on the big day!
Hopefully you’re feeling a little more clued up now! If you are looking for beautifully bespoke wedding stationery, please do get in touch.
]]>Save the date cards are the first pieces of wedding stationery that you’ll send out, so, naturally, you want to get them right.
I've put together this essential guide on save the date cards based on the most frequently asked questions received, so If you're unsure about what to include, when to send them or who should receive them, take a read below.

It's entirely up to you and if you don’t want to, you don’t have to. Save the dates aren't always necessary, and if you're only having a short engagement it might make more sense to head straight to the main invitations. However they are very useful if you want to give your guests a little bit of extra notice - especially if you're having a destination wedding or if the date falls on a bank holiday.
Save the dates are very simple. They are only meant to include a few key details that guests need to know as soon as possible for them to start getting organised and make their arrangements.
At this point, you may not have have figured out all the specifics of your day. The two main things you need to include are: the date of your wedding and your names. Including the location is not essential unless you’re getting married abroad but it is helpful to add a town or city, even if the venue isn't booked yet. I also recommend adding the words ‘Formal Invitation to Follow’ at the bottom of the save the dates so guests don’t assume this is their invite.
Save the date cards should be sent out at least eight months to a year before your wedding, but the earlier the better. This gives guests plenty of time to book their travel, save some money and book time off work if required.
You should send your save the dates to the people you definitely want at your wedding day. Even if you've already received verbal confirmations from certain guests, you should still send them a save the date. If you have doubts about a certain guest, don’t send them one. If you change your mind in the future, you can always send them a late invitation.
You should only address your save the date cards to the people invited to the wedding. You need to be clear about who's invited to the wedding by including the actual names of every intended guest on the envelope. If you don’t want or can’t cater for children at your wedding, address the envelope to the parents only. This will give families with uninvited kids plenty of time to plan for child care and allow guests who aren't local ample time to figure out their travel and accommodation plans. It's also a good idea to include any plus ones on the envelope too so that your guests know who to involve in accommodation and/or travel arrangements.
Save the dates are usually sent only to your day guests. This is to save any awkward situations from arising by ensuring your evening guests don't assume they're invited to the whole wedding day. If you would like to send a notice of your wedding date to your evening guests you could send out 'save the evening' cards instead.
Save-the-dates are usually much less formal so they don’t have to match all of your wedding stationery, but they should fit with the general wedding theme you’ve chosen as they will set the tone for the rest of your wedding.

I wouldn't say eloping is cheap - it depends on how you do it and the details you want to include but I'd say for us it was definitely the more cost-effective choice. We still spent a lot of money on our day but it was tied in with the costs of our 3 week trip to America. The main difference with the costs involved with eloping is that everything we paid for was specifically for us - we didn't have to factor in any of the costs for guests food and drink, favours etc. Elopement gives you the opportunity to spend money where it matters most to you.
Let's be honest... planning a wedding can be stressful. For us, there was only a little bit of organising to do and even that felt like hard work, I'm not sure I could have handled the wedmin that comes with planning a big day. To all of my couples I have the pleasure of working with - I give my utmost respect to you all, how do you make it look so easy?! On our wedding day we woke up, had breakfast together, and then got ready and drove down to our elopement spot together with our photographer Alexis, who was absolutely amazing. After the ceremony Alexis dropped us off home at our airbnb and we ate Pizza. Eloping is the easiest way to have a stress free wedding.
We decided early on that we wanted to get married in the Joshua Tree National Park, so we planned to make it into a 3 week trip to San Francisco, LA and Hawaii for our honeymoon. It’s was the perfect way of getting our dream destination wedding and honeymoon all in one without having to pay for two sets of flights.
It wasn't that we felt anyone would cause an issue at our wedding, but we didn't want to put anyone in an uncomfortable situation on what is supposed to be a day about love and happiness. If we had taken the traditional route, we know we would have spent our day worrying about other people instead of ourselves... so we decided to put us first.
So there you have it. Of course, there were also some negative sides to eloping - the main one being that we didn't get to have our loved ones around us on such a special occasion. But the positives totally outweighed the decision for us and if we could go back and get married again we would choose this option every time.
I'll share more about the finer details of our elopement soon, including the amazing suppliers who made it all happen.
